Summary:
A musical road movie which follows Senegalese singer Youssou N'Dour's historical journey tracing the trail left by slaves and the jazz music they created. Youssou N'Dour's challenge is to bring back to Africa a jazz repertoire of his own songs to perform a concert in Gorée, the island that today symbolizes the slave trade and stands to honour its victims. From Atlanta to New Orleans, from New York to Bordeaux and Luxembourg, the songs are transformed, immersed in jazz and gospel.

In Abdoulaye Ascofare’s film, the parallel universe consists in the singularity of the intimate world of one Songhai woman who must battle the insurmountable elements that are in regular and threatening orbit around her. She is a mother of three who struggles to support her family in the face of her husband’s arrest on trumped-up charges.

Here he directs one of the Dogon legends in the form of a comedy, which discusses the subject of women in a changing society. It is the story of the women"s uprising on the rocks of Bandiagara. The great mask of Albarga, a symbol of power, falls into the hands of the women. They quickly see to it that the roles are switched: men wear loin-cloths, do the domestic work and look after the children.

Summary:
Sissoko’s most popular film shows the rise and fall of a cruel and despotic village chief Guimba, and his son Jangine in a fictional village in the Sahel of Mali.The film opens with a village griot reciting the story. Janguine has been betrothed from childhood to the village beauty Kani from the Diarra family - the other powerful family in the village. Janguine, however, has his eyes on Kani's well-endowed mother Meya, and hence Guimba offers to marry Kani, asking Kani's father for a divorce so that Janguine can marry Meya. When he refuses, he is banished from the village.
