Amakula has initiated a new project under the name of the Tell-Tail project which will unite a specially made silent film based on a folklore story with a live performance of music and storytelling. The chief storyteller for the performance with be Michael Musoke, accompanied by Herman Ssewanyana and other associates from Percussion Discussion Afrika. The film was realized in the village of Jinja Kaloli, Kawempe district, Kampala, featuring performances by local dwellers: Lawrence Katongole , Valentina Nakibuuka, Janne Francesis Ssentamu, Josephine Tindyebwa.

Summary:
Ekisil is a story telling film but it is also corroborated by a succinct commentary meant to help the viewer to understand a very important part of life, culture and values of the Karimojong people. The film tells us about the power of friendship between Ikole a Bokora, Lokol, a Matheniko and someone who is considered a foreigner within his own land for not having abided entirely to the cultural values of his tribe. It is a friendly power that goes over tribal differences and cultural values since they save reciprocally their lives from the violence of tribal conflicts.

The question may be posed: Do we watch them because they entertain us, because we want to obtain information or because we want to be frightened…? The viewers react differently to the camera. They want to watch characters in films but they don’t want to see themselves being filmed.

The Benet Ndorobo people of Mt Elgon are driven out of their home in the name of environmental protection and development. The irony is that now they lead poorer and less secure lives, and the destruction to the forest is on the increase. Theirs is the first community to have pursued litigation against a sitting government and obtain a consent judgement.

Summary:
Nabadda is adopted by her paternal aunt. Her uncle breaches the trust, plunders the estate and sells off all the cows leaving the orphan with nothing. Aunt Nanteza cons a wealthy customer in covering the costs with the promise of eventual marriage while Nabadda falls in love with a young doctor. Eventually Nabadda will marry one of the men and the other will go mad.

Summary:
Two teenage girls encounter problems of growing up. As might seem familiar from Sengendo’s teaching dramas, the youngsters seek parental guidance but it is in vain, since the parents claim to be busy. When the girls get pregnant through peer pressure, one resorts to a crude abortion which results in her death while the other keeps the pregnancy but the delivery results in injuries to herself and her baby soon dies leaving her disconsolate.

Summary:
George Sengendo’s first television drama is one of the first narrative works of a feature length to be made in the country. Talking to children about issues of sexuality is still a taboo among typical Ugandan families. The young Nabakaabya, who is a teenager at a boarding school, is a victim of this silence. Her mother foresees the dangers of adolesence for her daughter but she is too timid to broach the subject. She finally seeks the guidance of a traditional healer who prescribes a solution but in the meantime Nabakaabya has become pregnant.

When the Honorable Dickson realises he is HIV Positive, he goes on a rampage by infecting unsuspecting young girls. Little did he know that one of the victims, Florence, was his only son Brian’s girlfriend. When Dixon denies responsibility for Florence’s pregnancy, Brian stands by her not realising his own father was the culprit.

Allie Mutaka has acted in several local film productions both in front and behind camera. He was a participant of Maisha film lab 2007/08 and is a member of the Uganda International Film Foundation. Out of Sight, which he directed and acted in, was made with members of the film club
