Workshops and Symposia |
|
|
Amakula Kampala intends to create an open forum that will offer a much needed impetus for creative exchange and discussion. Film directors are regularly invited to the festival from the region and beyond to engage in discussion and symposia, hold lectures and seminars and present their own films thus giving the audience the opportunities for questions and debate.
As part of the third edition we had workshops on offer as well as master classes from some of our esteemed guests including the distinguished director from Nigeria,
Tunde Kelani and the bold and adventurous filmmaker from India,
Rakesh Sharma.
Special mention should be made of two workshops presented by Uganda's own master of the voice, Zadok Adolu-Otojoka who provided an Introduction into the nature of the voice to demonstrate with performances how the many languages in Uganda shape and create specific musical forms and identities.
Specially for the up and coming veejays of the video halls we had a
Workshop on the art of translating films provided by the two master veejays Prince Joe Nakibinge and Jingo Tabula.
We were also pleased to welcome Tshepiso Sello from Sithengi film festival, South-Africa and Debra Zimmerman from Women Make Movies, USA, who provided a Workshop on the ins and outs of the film industry.
