“I’ve always had an interest in the things that
make a place what it is, which means not exactly like any other
place and yet related to other places..." Paul Strand
Through the Lens shows photographs made by children of Ugandan from
various districts exploring their world through the lens of the
camera. The photos are the results of workshops that Canadian photographer
Craig Richards conducted with children from the Rwenzori High School
in Ibanda, children from the Basua pygmies of the Bundibugyo district,
and former street children of the Mercy Childcare Ministries in
Kampala. The children explore the world around them through the
eye of the camera with often amazing results. This exhibition shows
a selection of the best photographs they made paired up wit photo’s
from children in Canada. Through the Lens offer a strong image of
how children perceive their world.
