Amakula Kampala intends to create an open forum that will offer a much needed impetus for creative exchange and discussion. Film directors have been invited to the festival from the region and beyond to engage in discussion and symposia, hold lectures and seminars and present their own films thus giving the audience the opportunities for questions and debate.
Amakula Kampala annually organizes the Congress on East African Film Cinema
that discusses the state of cinema within East Africa. The conference
has been extended to a three-day event and will take place from
Monday and Wednesday, May 7-9, in National Theater's Green Room.
Other highlights include the 2nd
East African Film Critic's Workshop, Gaston
Kabore's Master Class and, as a continuation of a successful workshop
held in 2005, Film
Dissection - Looking past the Magic of Film II.
