Summary:

A ticking-time-bomb insomniac and a slippery soap salesman channel primal male aggression into a shocking new form of therapy after they discover the pleasures of beating one another senseless. Their concept catches on, with underground fight clubs forming in every town, until one eccentric gets in the way and ignites an out-of-control spiral toward oblivion. That is the basic plot, at any rate, of David Fincher’s adroit adaptation of Chuck Pahlaniuk’s cult novel, which adumbrates an extremely complex construction from which to finally leap; sending the narrative to careen into a fiery furnace of reflexive double dealing revelation that is a tour de force of parallel logic.
