Country:Congo
Director:Zeka Laplaine
Summary:
Zeka Laplaine’s strongest work is a burlesque parallel workout that combines edgy African urbanism with a silent Chaplin comedy. “I am very drawn to comedy, even for serious subjects, like in Le Clandestin. I don't think you get the message over any better if you dress the film up to be really didactic! I'm a great believer using frivolity to say deep things.” An illeagal immigrant is given a run for his Money through hell and high water until he reaches the end of the game with a score taking. His opponent has meanwhile fought the good fight and they attempt to come to mutual terms. The film has a wry smile but a strong undercurrent of desperation.
