The Amakula Kampala Culture Club maintains activities throughout the year on the site of the Rubaga-Mengo headquarters of the Amakula Kampala Cultural Foundation. The Culture Club is meant to provide a meeting point for Kampala's evolving cinema audience as well as establish a platform for local filmmakers to converge and strengthen their work through mutual dialogue. The Culture Club offers screenings of African and World cinema both contemporary and classic each Tuesday night at 7pm. It hosts monthly workshops and trainings in specific cinema related disciplines such as acting, directing, editing, writing offered by local and international film professionals. Each month a filmmaker is invited to present their work followed by a discussion designed to assist the development of works in progress or assess recently completed productions. The Amakula Culture Club further hosts the Amakula Video and Film Literature Library which is accessible for viewing at the premises between Monday and Wednesday upon appointment. Small video cameras and rehearsal space are available upon submission of detailed proposals. Filmmakers are welcome to bring in their ideas to present films, their own works, and themes for discussion or workshops. For inquiry, send an email to info@amakula.com
